Sidewalk & Entrance Use Guidelines
To ensure compliance with city regulations and building requirements, please review the following rules regarding sidewalk and exterior use.
Sidewalk & Entrance Use
✅ Permitted
- Sidewalk use for ingress and egress
- Temporary signage or display items placed no more than 36 inches (3 feet) out from the storefront
- Prompt and efficient deliveries
All sidewalk items must:
- Remain within 36 inches of the storefront
- Not block pedestrian traffic
- Not obstruct neighboring businesses
- Be stable and safely installed
❌ Not Permitted
- Signage or displays extending more than 36 inches from the storefront
- Obstruction of pedestrian pathways
- Painting, marking, or altering any public space
- Permanent fixtures installed on the sidewalk
Exterior Alterations
- No painting, drilling, or altering public property
- No exterior signage or façade materials without written approval from Parasol
- Landmark buildings may have additional restrictions
If your space is located in a Landmark District, exterior applications may require city approval.
Violations
Unauthorized exterior or sidewalk use may result in:
- Immediate removal of materials
- Fines or violations issued by the city
- Security deposit reduction or forfeiture
